Position Summary

Jersey Precast is seeking a dedicated full-time Purchasing Manager to join our dynamic team in the fast-paced precast concrete manufacturing environment. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all purchasing activities and warehouse operations to ensure efficient and timely ordering, receiving, handling, storage, and distribution of materials used in the Precast/Prestressed concrete manufacturing. This role ensures accurate inventory control, timely receiving of goods, preparation of material kits per bill of materials, and coordination of outgoing materials for services such as galvanizing.

The Purchasing Manager works closely with the project managers, production, QC, and logistics teams, as well as external stakeholders, to ensure that the right materials are available ahead of time for uninterrupted manufacturing of the precast/prestressed products.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Purchasing and Vendor Management
  • Lead and supervise all purchasing activities ensuring timeliness, quality, and compliance with prescribed standards.
  • Analyze purchasing data, identify cost-saving opportunities, and lead negotiations with vendors on pricing and terms for the best value.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with vendors and suppliers, leading to optimal pricing, quality, and timely deliveries.
  • Conduct market research, identify new opportunities and industry trends, on-board new suppliers and alternate materials to ensure economy and reliability.
  1. Receiving & Inventory Management

 

  • Receive and inspect incoming materials, supplies, and equipment for accuracy, damage, and compliance with purchase orders.
  • Record all received items in the inventory system, ensuring accurate quantities and locations.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of consumables, raw materials, embedded items, and production supplies.
  • Label and store materials in designated locations to ensure easy retrieval and inventory accuracy.
  1. Material Handling & Storage
  • Ensure proper organization, labeling, and storage of all warehouse inventory in accordance with company safety standards.
  • Manage storage space efficiently to accommodate varying sizes and weights of precast-related materials.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
  1. Kitting & Bill of Materials Fulfillment
  • Review production schedules and bills of materials (BOM) to gather and prepare all required components for specific precast units.
  • Supervise and organize kits in designated staging areas for timely delivery to production.
  • Verify the accuracy of kits before release to production teams.
  1. Outgoing Materials & Vendor Coordination
  • Coordinate and ship materials for outside processing, including galvanizing, machining, or other treatments.
  • Maintain accurate records of items sent and returned from external vendors.
  • Coordinate transportation and logistics for outbound and inbound materials related to outside services.
  1. Inventory Control & Reporting
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and annual inventory audits.
  • Investigate and reconcile any inventory discrepancies promptly.
  • Provide reports to management on stock levels, reorder points, and material usage trends.
  1. Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure all warehouse operations comply with OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
  • Train warehouse staff in safe material handling practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree. CIM /Engineering /Technical background is preferred.
  • 3–5 years of purchasing and warehouse management experience in a manufacturing or construction-related industry. Precast experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Prior experience and knowledge of Titan® is preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to evaluate technical product data and MTRs to ensure compliance with the prescribed requirements.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Bilingual is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the shift.
  • Working in indoor/outdoor environments in varying weather conditions.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $65K to $75K
