Abutment Walls

Abutment walls are structural elements used in bridge construction to support and distribute the load of the bridge deck to the ground or foundation. They are typically located at the ends of a bridge and serve as the connection point between the bridge superstructure and the earth.
The design of abutment walls varies depending on factors such as the type of bridge, the site conditions, and the surrounding environment. They may include features such as wing walls to help guide and redirect water flow, as well as retaining walls to support and stabilize the earth adjacent to the bridge.
